I like that PF2e has given mechanical impact to the alignments again after D&D has gone away from that with 5e- not that I think either option is better just that I'm glad that there are different systems with different takes. I don't think it should be a problem for other character types though. My overall impression is that the lack of fiends/aligned damage might be a slight nerf for clerics, but the setting will still have undead and I was planning to give each of the 10 dragon gods a few more spells than the core rulebook races got to hopefully balance this a bit. There won't be any fiends or celestials in the setting or other creatures that should be sensitive to aligned damage. a divine lance from a green dragon worshipper would do poison damage, from a silver dragon worshipper would do cold etc. The basic concept of the setting is that the 'gods' are the 10 d&d dragon types so my plan was that player abilities or spells that deal aligned damage would instead deal damage of the elemental type of the characters dragon patron- i.e. I'm planning to remove alignment-based magical effects altogether but not sure what impact this will have on game balance. I'm getting ready to run a homebrew setting where the concept of 'aligned damage' doesn't really fit. This is clearly the wrong thing to say to Viserys at the time which is what makes me think that it's what he actually thinks- he still wants her just 'not like this' for lack of a better term. Notice how, even though he doesn't go through with the act he still asks Viserys for her hand the next day- but he doesn't try to blackmail him or any of the stuff you'd expect if his goal was simply manipulation, instead he says that he and Rhaenyra will be the ones to restore House Targaryen. It's "I'm right here uncle." All over again. By reciprocating his desire Rhenyra is (unintentionally, this time) calling his bluff again. But again his battle plan doesn't survive contact with Rhaenyra. So again we have him making a play for power by manipulating his brother. In episode 4 it appears that Daemon's goal is to seduce Rhaenyra so that Viserys has no choice but to accept when he asks to marry her. In episode 2 she calls his bluff- Daemon's made a claim to be the 'true heir' and Rhaenyra points out that if he expects to press that claim he'll have to kill her and even dares him to do it and Daemon doesn't move a muscle- because they both know that he actually loves her. In both cases, Daemon sees something in Rhaenyra that makes him abandon his plans. 4 comments saveįor Daemon drawing back and leaving at the last minute-everyone's drawing parallels with the sex scene with Mysaria from the pilot- this makes sense but I think the more revealing comparison is the confrontation between Daemon and Rhaenyra at Dragonstone from episode 2. High-ranking nobles with no heirs married unhappily married to homicidal dragon-riding princes are notoriously slapdash about their personal safety. unless she wears a helmet.ĭaemon: She won't. It will be totally obvious that it's an assassination.ĭaemon: That's okay, I don't mind bearing the lifelong suspicion of murder on my shoulders, as long as it's done in such a way that nothing can go wrong.Ĭheese: Induced horse panic it will have to be then, it simply can't fail. My only worry is that it will looks so much like a murder that people will suspect.īlood: Well that is the risk we run by doing it this way. What we are organizing here my friends, is a water-tight hit. And people whose horses rear up are always thrown. As long as we bribe all her bodyguards, Hawkers, maids and grooms to call in sick that day so that the most powerful noble in the vale goes riding out alone into the middle of nowhere I'm sure that will happen.ĭaemon: And the good news is that only involves swearing another fifty or so people to perpetual silence.Ĭheese: Yeah, and of course people always die when they're thrown from their horse, don't they?ĭaemon: Yes of course, always. assume it will rear up and throw her to her death.Ĭheese: Sure. I just walk up to her horse-ĭaemon: -Slowly walk- and. No messing around with Faceless Men or the Tears of Lys. Blood: So we're all agreed that that's the best way to do it?ĭaemon: Absolutely.
